Take A Moment in Nature…

I was so delighted to be invited to be Amy’s maternity photographer and capture this special moment for her.  Amy was expecting her second baby, so she was fairly relaxed about the upcoming birth but just as excited! And we booked me in for a follow up shoot of her new baby boy and the family.

Maternity or baby bump photography, is a wonderful way to document the story of your journey to motherhood and your growing family. The time in a woman’s life when she is so radiant and full of glow, is like absolutely no other and is definitely one of those precious memories to be captured in photos.

As a West Sussex maternity photographer, I am lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful open countryside and being based in Horsham, I’m never too far away from the coast. For many of my maternity portraits, I take my clients to one of their favourite beauty spots around Sussex and we spend a little time in nature together.  When we have found the most comfortable spots, I gently curate the composition to capture comfortable and relaxed shots in natural light. This way my clients can feel and look their absolute best, such an important ingredient for making beautiful photos.

In these maternity photos, Amy was only a couple of weeks away from her due date and she wanted a combination of indoor photos with some unclothed photos of her baby bump (not for sharing here!), combined with some environmental maternity portraits.

So, after photographing Amy in soft window light in a bedroom, we took advantage of the beautiful August weather and I found another lovely spot for her in the garden.

As Amy had an older daughter at home, we decided to take a little time photographing her alone for her maternity photos and we actually shot these in my West Sussex garden.
